Doctorate in Veterinary Science from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, University of Porto, with the approved rating with distinction, on 21 March 2013. Stage in the Scientific Research Centre Foulum, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Aarhus in Denmark, as equivalent to scientific research fellow at the joint stock doctoral FCT, November 2008 to February 2009, in research work in the welfare area in dairy cows. Since October 2000 he taught 32 curricular units in different courses offered by ESA-IPVC and guided 60 final reporting stage of several undergraduate and 4 masters. Integrated member of Animal and Veterinary Research Centre (CECAV) - UTAD, Portugal. Full member of the team of reviewers of scientific articles in the journal Proceedings of Iberoamerican Conservación Animals, based in Cordoba, Spain. Attended various short courses mainly in the area of animal production. Participated in several research projects and technological development in the areas of animal production and local breeds. It belongs to several organizing committees and participation in conferences, seminars and conferences in the ESA-IPVC and other institutions in the context of animal husbandry. Has numerous publications as author and co-author of books (11), book chapters (6), articles in journals with referee (10), technical journals (23) and proccedings in scientific meetings (82). As part of its scientific activity made a significant number of call communications, oral presentations and panel sessions on different national and international conferences. It is currently coordinator of the course Higher Technical Vocational Veterinary Care of ESA-IPVC and is President of the Pedagogical Council of ESA-IPVC. The current research interest focuses on animal welfare, ruminant production systems, management and local breeds production techniques, biotechnologies applied to animal production.
